OracleがPeopleSoftを買収することで合意（2004年12月13日）してから１ヶ月余りが経過した。Oracleは既に2005年1月7日にPeopleSoftの買収を完了している。
Oracle Corporationのサイトには「Welcome PeopleSoft」と題したページが設けられており、両社のアプリケーションビジネスの統合について書かれている。一部抜粋して引用すると、

また、1月14日の同社のプレスリリース（※１）によると、両社の統合作業は予定通り進んでおり、統合後の従業員数は5万人とする（5千人の削減）とのことである。従業員への通知は既に開始されており大多数は今後10日以内に完了するとされている。PeopleSoftの製品開発およびサポートのスタッフの90%は統合後も残る。
また、別のアナウンス（※２）によると、1月18日（日本時間では1月19日未明）には、Oracleの幹部が両社の統合に関する会見を行なうことになっている。この会見は、予定によると約３時間半にわたり、インターネットを通して生中継される。
